School of Kingdom Ministry [SoKM] Expeditions

As 2019 came to a close, we could hardly wrap our minds around all that God has done in our online community. We felt like it was so important to take a moment to celebrate all that He has done and to highlight how we sense He is moving us in 2020. This has been such an exciting year as we have seen the Holy Spirit empower leaders across our On the Journey family as they have stepped into a new initiative: SoKM Expeditions. So what is SoKM Expeditions? SoKM Expeditions is a mission opportunity for anyone who has graduated from the School of Kingdom Ministry and has a heart for world missions. It is an opportunity for alumni from across all of our SOKM sites to partner together to take what they have learned during their time as a student to growing churches around the world. To hear more behind the heart and vision for SoKM Expeditions, watch this interview with Putty Putman and Beau Burnham as they discuss what it means to have a heart for missions.

As a community, we were able to partner with our friends as they embarked on an expedition to Costa Rica in prayer, and we were able to follow along as they reported testimonies of the powerful ways God was moving in Costa Rica. We had some technical difficulties as we tried to do an interview with Chalane Coit and Beau Burnham (2 SOKM Expedition leaders) before they took off for their trip to Costa Rica. But they were gracious and went with the flow, and we were able to capture a bit from each of them separately. You can check out the heart behind the trip by watching their videos here:

While in Costa Rica, the team did a fantastic job of keeping us updated on all that was happening. You can take a look at their updates from Costa Rica here:

They also shared with us photos from the trip so that as a community we could be interceding for them.

When the team returned from Costa Rica, we were able to get Beau and Chalane together again for an after the trip summary. It was so awesome to hear the testimonies of how God moved through the team. One of my favorite parts was hearing about how SoKM Alumni from all across the country, who were total strangers to each other prior to the trip, were able to come together with such a heart of unity and work together so well because of the common bond of training they received through the School of Kingdom Ministry. It really is a beautiful picture of the unity that the Holy Spirit brings to the body of Christ!

There is so much ahead in 2020 for SOKM Expeditions. If you are a SOKM Alumni, you can be a part of this! Don’t hesitate if you feel the Holy Spirit nudging you to take a step out. There are 2 concrete trips for SOKM Expedition coming up and more to be announced. The first trip is May 26-June 2 to Fresnillo, Mexico. The second trip is July 22-July 31 to Delhi, India. If you are interested in going on one of these trips or for more information about upcoming trips, you can reach out directly to our leaders: Beau Burnham- burnham.beau@gmail.com, Vanessa Wine- vanessawine83@gmail.com, or Phillip Wine- phillipwine@gmail.com.
